Greetings!
Your Editing project sparked my interest and I thank you for the opportunity to bid. Since 2010, I have been ranked as the #1 ranked technical, business and creative writer on www.Freelancer.com. During this time, I have completed more than 1,600 projects totaling $1.3 million on this site. This includes more than 1000 articles, blogs, business plans, websites, reports, reviews, press releases and product descriptions.
I hold Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Business Administration degrees and have worked for clients in 150+ countries, including Fortune 100 companies such as American Express and Morgan Stanley, as well as FLIR, Audi, Rent-A-Center, Cisco, and others.
For this project, I recommend the following best practices:
Cut long sentences in two
Axe the adverbs (a.k.a. -ly words)
Stick to one voice
Remove extra punctuation
Replace negative with positive
Replace stuffy words with simple ones
Remove redundancies
Reduce prepositions
Cut “in order to”
Don’t use “start to”
Nix “that”
Replace “thing” with a better word
Try really hard to spot instances of “very” and “really”
Make your verbs stronger
Ditch the passive voice
Refer to people as “who” not “that”
Avoid “currently”
Eliminate “there is” or “there are” at the beginning of sentences
Match up your bullet points
Use contractions
Steer clear of the “ing” trap
Check your commas with “that” and “which”
Replace “over” with “more than” for numbers
Hyphenate modifiers
