An argumantative essay

Students will write an argumentative essay on a literary text of their choosing individually (800 words) Students are expected to choose their primary text of focus early and related topic early in the semester, and can ask for feedback and formal approval from the instructor while choosing their subject matter. These topics or the primary texts can be chosen from among the material to be covered later in the course, or students can also choose other literary texts on which to write their argumentative essay. In their essays students are expected develop a new critical and fresh/creative outlook and informed argumentation on a literary topic of their choosing. Accordingly, this Essay assignment will be graded on each students’ effort in choosing their literary topic, developing their own creative and critical ideas, and supporting their argument on the topic (with their relevant textual examples and evidence given as proof). In this assignment, which is not designed as a research paper, repetition of commonly held opinions, ideas, information or viewpoints on the literary texts through reference to secondary sources will NOT be appreciated.
