This is a really neat project. The short version is that I need some help with some 3D modeling. Now for the long version. I’m building a 3-wheeled reverse trike. (2 wheels in the front…and one in the back). For this project I’ve already purchased a 2005 Honda CBR 1000RR (racing motor cycle)…and the front end from a Case IH Scout utility vehicle. So, I’m in pretty deep at this point. A while back I came across a sketch design that fit exactly what I’d been trying to build for years. I’m not an artist. (just an engineer). So, I have a loose agreement with the designer (Eric Stoddard) to work off of his sketches.
The Deliverable: I need a solid model assembly that is fully modifiable. It must be modifiable because I will need to make changes based on the physical layout of the machine. (Probably means a follow up project). I need the following items…listed here in order of importance. 1. Shell Design 2. Mannequin driver in position (with seat). 3. Steering wheel position. 4. Door design (if they can open…that’s better yet). 5. Approximate engine position.
I have SolidWorks 2009 and 3dS Max 2010 and Inventor 2010. Ideally the final design will be in one of those native formats…or a parametric format that they can work off of. SolidWorks would be the best engineering choice. I’ll supply the concept sketches of the trike that Eric produced. (Speed Studio Designs). Unfortunately, no two pictures represent the same exact shape. So the various profiles are all representing slightly different designs. View 4 is the overall best shape. View2 has some nice frontal elements. Views 1 and 3 may provide further inspiration.
Ideally there would be room for two occupants. They would sit one behind the other…like on a motor cycle. But, each would have their own individual seat. Corbeau makes some fashionable seats. [login to view URL] . I would only use a 3 point harness though. I plan to put the engine and transmission from the motorcycle in front of the driver. He’ll straddle the engine much like on a motor cycle. The engine will remain behind the centerline axis of the front wheels. (The chain will run back to the rear wheel). The rear wheel is an Avon AV56 Storm ST 190/50ZR17. That’ll give you the size info you need. Fronts will be the same size.
Those are my basic needs. Now, I’m not sure about the selection process on Freelancer.com. But, It would be ideal if some existing work can be demonstrated…especially work that is relevant to this type of Automotive design. I don’t need an animator…but someone that works in animation is going to have a lot better understanding of how parts go together than others. I’ll probably have to make clarifications. But this should be enough to start. I will be traveling this weekend…so, there will be a delayed response until Monday, December 26th. Merry Christmas!
I am a very experienced mechanical engineer, excellent with Solidworks (Certified SolidWorks Professional).

Hi! Save the best for last. I've seen the project very late(hope not too late). Man, this is very neat. I can provide you Rhino files, witch you can import to Solid Works. I did a sample model for you to test(a rim). please see pm for info and attachments. All the best for your kid.
