Ultraeditor Environment (File Copy, Compare, Edit .txt File)

Environment: Using Ultraeditor - (a disk-based text editor, programmer's editor, and hex editor that is used to edit HTML, PHP, JavaScript, Perl, C/C++, Python, and virtually any other coding/programming language. *******PHASE I******* Needs: Currently, we have a manual file comparison process that we would like to replace with an automated file comparison process. These files are text based error files with a proprietary file extenstion. You may accomplish this with any coding/program language listed above. This process should be able to run automatically OR by allowing the Sys Admin to start/stop the process using a command. 1) The files will be searched on the data element (SCCF #) which is a proprietary data field. 2) Once files are found (2 of the files), a new .txt file must be created with the contents of both files 3) A search is then done on the newly created file on field 207. The contents of field 207 are counted for all cases found in the 2 files. 4) The counted field is then tabulated and exported to a .CSV (Excel or XML) to be used for reporting purposes. PHASE II The error codes found at location 207 in the error files have a manual process that we use to fix the errors in question. We would like to automate this process. Expectation: Review the error in place 207 in a .txt file and create/run logic that replaces line data with supplied new data. for example: If the cost for location 207 is incorrect, THEN add fields 203 + 201 and put the sum in field 207. THEN copy the entire line of data and place in a new file named 'X'. We only have 4 errors that will use the above scenario and will provide the basic IF, THEN, ELSE logic.
