i have experience in Code-igniter and other PHP framworks as well and also have experience related to your issue i can solve your issue, we can use SMPT to send email that send email from the server on which your site is hosted and it never goes to spam event we can sent HTML email or attachment in email as well or we can use mail-chimp, Aweber Get-response, sand-grid any email service you want i have hands on these all but i recommend you to use SMPT looking forward to start your job

I'll use Sendgrid or PHPMailer to create send email feature for your project. I've experienced in CI project. Sendgrid is paid Service and PHPMailer is free of cost. I'll create a page where you can set your default service to use for send mail feature throughout your project. I've also one more option to use the tag for default email template and the value for the tag will be picked up from the database dynamically according to the Recipient of the email.
