Develop a Vtiger 6 plugin to enable Global Search for all fields

Hi I can enable the global search to all fields. There few questions 1) Why do you need it as a plugin? 2) If the plugin is really needed, can we develop it as an installable extension, that will hide the current global search and over write it However if you are interested please send a message with above answers.
