256286 Zen Cart Programing

I have several pieces of art work displayed in column form 4 across, and they go to the bottom of the page, (unlimited amount down)but without a visible column. I need to keep them displayed in the row form but have them in a "boxes" going across and down, sort of like the attachment. (See attachment) the "Boxes" must be able to accommodate the .jpg images which is 400 X 400 Pixels. I would like to if someone moves their mouse over the image, for it to be opened in a larger image without having to click to enlarge. I would like the background to have colors if possible, (Not necessary, but would be nice.) So to recap, i need to keep the art work in column , but "box" them in, and if possible have a background color behind each of them, as many colors as possible.
