Production control system with Windows Mobile devices and FileMaker

We need an application to manage production control in a factory using Windows Mobile devices (like the Qtek S200) which will update a FileMaker Pro 8.5 database hosted in a server with FileMaker Server 8.5. The connection will be via a wireless 802.11b/g link and there will be about 12 devices. The application must track time spent in assigned tasks by each worker, so he/she will be required to enter a task id in the device at start and the same code to end the task. Entering a different code would mean ending the current task and starting a new one. There could be ids with special meaning: check-in, check-out, lunch... A status message would indicate which task is currently being metered, if any, or idle. Input must be done with a touch screen interface, with an ultra simple interface with large buttons (users are not used to computers!). Our FileMaker developer will help the coder to build the server-side part and to later maintain it when in production. If possible, we would like that the PDA app be done in a way that we could later easily modify or extend (perhaps with some standard package like Visual CE or so). We are open to discuss the project and to consider other solutions. UPDATE: We think a good and easier way would be building the PDA app with Flash Lite 2 and do the updates via web services. The FileMaker Server Advanced databases can be accessed with a PHP toolkit from FileMaker. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased.
