Analyses of Interaction between Inductive Coil Sensor and Wheel Flange

Require a detailed mathematical analysis to determine the change in inductance (& Frequency) of a sensor coil when exposed to a target detection object, in this case a wheel flange. The sensor coil is connected to an LC oscillation via a cable of varying length. The oscillator runs at approximately 80KHz-100Khz when there is no ferrous material in the coil field. When a wheel flange is introduced into the coil field the oscillator changes frequency. The change in inductance/frequency for all operating conditions needs to be calculated/simulated. The wheel flange needs to be modelled with the following variables - Distance from coil sensor, 20mm to 50mm - Variable Size and shape of wheel flange - Varying Speeds of wheel flange passing the sensor coil, maximum of 250km/hr. - Varying cable lengths (which varies the frequency), 5m, 8m, 12m, 15m. Full details on the oscillator, cable & coil can be supplied. The study is required to define the operating parameters of the wheel sensor coil (change in inductance/frequency) in relation to the wheel flange under typical operating conditions. The contractor will need to have previous modelling experience and competency in simulation. Following from this study there will be an opportunity to make recommendations on increasing the sensitivity of the coil and detector design.
