I used to be quite and avid player of D&D when I was younger. I have written arcade games, procedural content generators, and even some more serious apps. I would create a text-based, text-adventure like interface with D&D like rules in the back ground. (Alternately, I could create a simple gui that also shows stats.) I take that by console you mean text shell, not a gaming console.
