Project Summary
The objective of this project is to to provide a cost effective open energy management end device comprising of
1. A small form wireless end device preferably zigbee that can monitor and control the power and shall reside as a switch before a load of an outlet.
2. A gateway transceiver with an RS-232 interface to link with the end devices to control the monitor the power
Node
The meter part shall be used to sense and control power of 240 volts AC 50Hz or 60Hz to report of Real Power, Apparent Power, Vrms, Irms for real time display with an integrated power supply from the line it is sensing and controlling.
The relay part shall On/Off the load via remote control and locally via a push button.
The voltage sensing and current sensing shall be isolated from the mains
The whole node can be uniquely addressable so that a number of them can reside in a mesh
If possible a modbus application can reside on top of the mesh.
The node should be designed in such a way that it can reside in the smallest form in a fire resistant enclosure which is wall mount.
Gateway
The gateway shall have the same setup in reverse and shall an RS- 232 interface to be able to link to a controller for real-time display.
Shall include network discovery and setup options.
The gateway shall be used to read the values from the nodes whenever possible.
Over the air programming is desired but not compulsory
Architecture
The Architecture shall comprise of either
Fully Integrated SoC with energy measurement/Control and Wireless transceiver MCU(Atmel wireless MCU or TI wireless MCU or Freescale)
Or
Modular AFE with dedicated metering ICs(Analog,STM,Freescale NXP,TI)+ and wireless transceiver
Whichever is cost effective.
Shall provide reference designs to start off with, a slight modification of the schema, pcb design and inclusions can create a full fledged [login to view URL] should make the overall job easy
Provider qualifications
The provider shall be based in India and well versed in PCB design, Embedded systems with additional knowledge of wireless technologies.
