**SUMMARY:** I need every relevant event from every university in every state in the United States for every subject of study. None can be left out. Relevant to the project are events that are distinctly academic. Usually these events will list a special speaker or guest but not always. The events can be called 'seminars' or 'colloquiums' typically but not always. They discuss a topic of study within an academic field. Events I don't want are ones that are not purely academic in nature like university sports clubs, fraternity events, academic clubs, etc. See more notes below. ## Deliverables **MORE NOTES:** Please send me 15 sample events in my format. 8 should be sites I want and 7 should be sites I do not want. Highlight the ones I do not want in yellow. I need to ensure you can see the difference between the two because I do not want events I do not want in my list. The list **should only contain events where the subject (mathematics, physics, history, biology, journalism, etc.) is being discussed in detail** by at least one person, not any leadership or club events. See an example at [login to view URL] using May 2012 with your search. The procedure is as follows: 1. Use a list of colleges and universities from each state. In this case, lets use Illinois: [login to view URL] I suggest using the wikipedia lists if available because they **do not include 2-year community colleges, which I do not need.** 2. Start with the first school and work your way down (or use whatever strategy works best for you. 3. Go to the majors page, in this case, I've used U of I at [login to view URL] Note that for universities have many colleges, and you may need to find a majors list by going to each college. 4. In this case I've chosen first [login to view URL] to see the Arts & Sciences college. I found [login to view URL] and go to [login to view URL] first, which is the Biology department. 5. Here is where some skill comes into play. You need to search the main page of every section, in this case [login to view URL] for words indicating a link to their events that I am seeking. **Search for 'colloquiums', 'seminars', 'talks', or just plain 'events', 'calendar' etc. and then you will see a nest of events or a search box to use.** 4. I found a 'View all Biology Events' link so I used that. It took me to an interdepartmental calendar at [login to view URL] **Sometimes the events list is in an interdepartmental calendar like this, sometimes the events are on each department's site. ** 5. I would look from August through December and gather all those events. 6. Finally, I'd move onto the next major until I have all the majors for the college, then move onto the next college until I have all the majors for the university. **Time Saving Tip:** Some colleges/universities do not have events like the ones I'm seeking, some hardly have any events at all. This is where you're skill comes into play. You can actually skip certain colleges. This is an art and a skill, though. If you do not see events after search the department homepage of 10-15 departments, this usually indicates that there aren't going to be any for the entire university/college. Keep in mind that most colleges do not have any events of the type I am looking for. You will need to learn when to skip to the next college and when not to. Like I said, though, search through 10-15 department home pages and finding nothing on the entire college's site is a good indication that there is nothing, but not always unfortunately. You should also use google searches like 'physics (college name) seminar colloquium event' for maybe 10-15 other departments, and if you *still* dont find anything, you can be even more certain that you can move onto the next college/university on the wikipedia list. (Note: I will still expect to see events for the college in the final product if they do in fact exist on the college's website, so please be cautious - I will be 'spot-checking' the final list myself before I release the funds) Thanks for bidding. I would like to see your list today so I can choose a bid this evening CST. I do give bonuses for great work and will also need a worker throughout the year to collect events 2-3 times per year. **FILE FORMAT:** Here is the format for the EXCEL FILE: TITLE,HYPERLINK,DATE1,DATE2,DATE3,SUBJECT,CITY,STATE,SPEAKERS/GUESTS1,SPEAKERS/GUESTS2 1. The state field must be separate and use the two character acronym. 2. Must have a university name in a seperate field. this field must remain consistant for each time you use it. For 'University of' use 'U. of' instead. If 'University' comes at the end of the name, use the full word, 'University' 3. I must have multiple date fields. There should be date1. date2. date3. if there is no date2 or date3, leave empty. 4. Dates must have 2 or 4 digits and follow a specific year-. '2012-05-08' not '2012-5-8'. 5. Two speakers/guests should be gathered if there are 1 or more. If only one, leave speakers/guests2 blank. 6. Subjects should use the same name. if you are gathering events under 'chemical and biochemical engineering' then use that same subject name everytime for events having that university and subject. It should not be altered with acronymns. 7. Hyperlinks should open to a description of the event. You should get as close to the description of the event as possible with the hyperlink. 8. Events should be taken from August 2012 to December 2012. **BIDDING NOTES:** -I estimate about 7-14 days for delivery. Please estimate this for yourself in your bid. -Lists must be gathered and submitted every other day. Example: You begin collecting Sunday, then submit your list Monday, Wednesday, etc. until completion. *** I am asking for 150 events within 24 hours of acceptance of the project to ensure you are on the right track***
