Hildebrandt, Treaty Elders of Saskatchewan (both available on-line through the U of S Library) and find three ACADEMIC supporting sources. Using all five sources, with an emphasis on the readings you find on your own, write an 8-10-page research essay (2000 - 2500 words) comparing the perspectives of First Nations and the Canadian government on treaties and the treaty relationship. Things to keep in mind: What are the main treaty principles from the perspective of First Nations? What motivated the Canadians to enter into treaty? What points of convergence or divergence exist in the two views of treaties?
