Lobby with Water Feature A Corporate Real Estate company has asked you to design the lobby of their new sales building. They are looking for a soft, inviting environment that is elegant, not flashy. To capture the essence of the company, the architect has designed a floor to ceiling water feature that is the focal point of the space. It is your job to create a lighting design that accents the architecture, the space has several drop ceiling elements, as well as create a soothing environment. The interiors colors have not been picked although but they will be in the neutral to ocean tones. Non specified information has been left to your discretion. Where materials are not indicated, finishes can be assumed as necessary. All assumptions must be justified in the narrative. Modification to the architecture is not allowed. Your scope of work for the project is the lighting and control for Foyer, Entry Lobby,, Waiting, Coffee, and Closing Areas. Each student must submit electronically in PDF Format: 1) 11”x17” Format Design Solution Booklet a) Must include: i) Cover Page with Project Title only (Logo OK) ii) Lighting Plan iii) Fixture schedule (1) Fixture Type and Image (2) Description (3) Manufacturer & Catalog Number (4) Lamp Source (5) Calculations - must be under 1 watt/sq foot (6) Relevant Notes iv) Design Narrative that addresses the following (1) Fixture selection choices (2) Lighting Techniques (grazing vs. washing, etc.) (3) Lamp Sources (efficiency, color rendition, dimming compatibility, etc.) (4) Maintenance (durability, accessibility, lamp life, etc.) v) Control intent (1) Dimming and Switching layout (2) Zones with explanation of how they are used vi) Graphical Representation of design intent – TO BE CONFIRMED WITH MS. LYONS - could be (1) Computer Renderings (AGI, Photoshop, 3D Studio, etc) (2) Scanned Hand sketches b) Must include: i) Elevations (hand or digital with lighting - see past examples for refernece.)
