Trace source of broken links in existing custom Wordpress site

I have an existing site with several broken attachment links because an external site was deleted. I need help tracing the php code to find where the (absolute reference) entries are kept. The site was created with what I believe are custom fields, and I can't find the text url's. I have access only to the WP admin account, but we can install plugins to view the source code and databases if necessary. I believe an experienced WordPress programmer can find the answer very quickly
