E-Commerce site

An ecom site which allows customers to list items for sale with no listing charge, or they can pay to have a premium listing. The item would be purchased through the site via online payment. The person who listed the item would then receive payment for the item less commission charged by the site Every item when listed will have tick boxes which will be tags associated with the item. There will be different manufacturer makes of item, possibly up to 50. Also colour, size, style e.t.c There will be a tag cloud on the homepage which needs to be indexable by search engines and will relate to all the products listed on the site mainly for seo purposes. There will also be a blog feature which will need to integrate with the tag cloud. You should be familiar with the guidelines set out by Yahoo for best practices with regards to the loading speed of the website, and try to implement them when possible. These can be found here [login to view URL] The website should also pass W3C CSS, and XHTML validation. The website should use CSS for styling and also be tableless. The website will be listing for sale used wedding dresses and associated items, e.g. bridesmades dresses, mother of the bride dresses e.t.c The design of the pages will be supplied to you and so very little design work on your part is required to complete this project. The homepage will contain a wedding scene, with 4-6 .png images. These images will be clickable and will take you to the search page with some search fields already filled in. For example, if a user clicks on the image of the bride, they will be taken to the search page, and search for wedding dresses will be pre selected. The user then can search with as few or as many search specifications as they wish. E.g colour, size e.t.c The search form should contain variables for the user to select, e.g. dress designer (there are many different designers and so this may contain many designers in a drop down menu, the user can select a specific designer or no/any designer) The designers need to be editable by admin to add new designers when needed. The remainder of the search form will be normal fields such as size, colour e.t.c The homepage will also contain an html tag cloud which will be indexable by search engines, the tag cloud will relate to the dresses listed on the site for sale, this html tag cloud will be displayed as a flash cloud. The blog entries will only be made by admin and will need to be taggable. The blog feature is to allow users who pay for a premium listing to have a blog entry made relating to their item. This blog entry will then be submitted to social networking sites such as facebook, twitter e.t.c and so this needs to be easily actionable by admin. When a user lists an item they will be able to either choose a standard listing, or a premium listing to have their item also given a blog entry. ***please note this is a change from the original brief which stated that the website would take the payment for the item, the website will no longer take payment for the item, it will only take a payment for the listing*** To list an item a user will need to register on the site. This page will come after the listing page. The listing page will consist of a form which will allow users to specify their dress. It will contain fields in drop down menus which will include designer, size, style, colour, height, shoe heel size, e.t.c These will be required fields in order to list. The user will also be able to use a browse function on the page to find the image file on their computer and then upload to the site with the listing submission. If making a premium listing then the user needs to select which image should be used in the blog entry. The user will also be able to specify price, item location, and any further description if needed. ***some of this information will be used to tag the listing for use in the tag cloud*** The users who opt for a premium listing will also be able to submit the blog entry at this time. It will take details from the already completed form and produce a blog entry with the correct tags (designer, style, colour, size, material e.t.c) The user will also be encouraged to write a further short description about the dress. The following page will require the personal details of the user which will allow payment to be taken and the user to be registered on the site. Once listed the user does not need to be able to edit the listing details, but admin needs this function to edit if listing is incorrect. Once payment is taken the dress will then be inserted into the listing page, and if it is a premium listing then it will also have the blog entry published. ***If you can make a script to automatically submit this blog post to social networking sites then please detail any additional cost for this, and which social networking sites you can do this for*** To facilitate the introduction of the buyer of the item with the seller there will be a contact email on the item listing page which must not be accessed by spam bots. This may require a quick register by the seller to gain the email address of the seller. There will be normal pages on the site to contain privacy policy, terms and conditions e.t.c The website must be 100% SEO friendly, the urls for each listing must be in a friendly format also.
