Soil Sensor UX Design

We are a precision agriculture company looking to hire a UX designer for a new feature in our product. Our solution is a device that mixes liquid fertilizer precisely and sends it out to crops in a greenhouse at a fixed schedule. The farmers can choose when they want to fertilize the crops, and when they just want to irrigate the crops with plain water. Soil sensors provide additional insight into precisely what the crops are taking up at a specific point in time. We can use this data to gain insights into our dosing and scheduling process and present this data to the farmers so they can make better decisions. We place soil sensors at strategic locations within the greenhouse. Generally farmers will have many hundreds or even thousands of polybags containing the individual crops. For cost efficiency, we are sampling these polybags using the soil sensors. The farmers would like a visual representation of the data from the soil sensors. Each soil sensor captures light, air temperature, soil moisture, soil fertility, and the battery charge that’s remaining. The soil sensor itself is set up with meta-data about where it is in the greenhouse. The visualisation needs to integrate with the existing dashboard application. The purpose of the visualisation is to offer farmers information on how their greenhouse is doing, as a start we should be able to answer the following questions: - are the polybags sufficiently moist for the plants? - are the polybags too moist? (this can cause mould growth) - is the liquid fertilizer making its way to the plants in the right concentration, or are there problem areas (i.e. is the conductivity in the expected range)? - are the soil sensors working? or do they need maintenance? In addition to displaying information about existing sensors, our operations team needs to be able to create these sensors in the system before installing them at the farm. The key deliverables for this work are: - Personas - User journey map / site map - Low fidelity wireframes (either hand-drawn or using a tool, to be reviewed and iterated on) - High fidelity mockup of the proposed user interface (delivered as a Sketch document) Generally, we require thought into the design of empty states, error states, usability and accessibility and how the proposed solution will fit in with our existing product. The candidate should be experienced with user experience design and also graphic design.
