going to start my foundation year and they asked me to provide a portfolio. What should I include in my portfolio? Drawings, sketches, paintings, models, handicraft, sculptures, fashion, graphics, photographs and more. These can be pieces of work you’ve done in school, and of course new pieces of work created for the portfolio. What format and how many pages? Ideally you submit your portfolio electronically together with your application as one pdf file with maximum of 10MB. A good format is A3 landscape. Your portfolio should consist of at least 8 sheets. You may consider an additional title and contents sheet. Try to neatly arrange your pieces of work. Annotations and short explanations explaining your thoughts and ideas would be very helpful too. Is there an outline for the suggested task? Where I live - Your room at home – a scaled (1:20 or as appropriate) and measured (in mm) precise pencil drawing, with North arrow and indication of materials (timber floor, textile curtain, concrete wall, etc.) and textures (rough, smooth, soft, polished etc.). For this task you should use a ruler or a set square. What I do - Provide a sketch, drawing, painting or model of your favourite activity. This could be a piece of equipment or the activity itself. Please do not choose media or computer based activities. What I design - Design of a simple three-dimensional object: A small piece of furniture or household item, or a small shelter such as a bus stop or beach hut, or what else you would like to design.
