Programming with XML data

I'm trying to use the Firstobject XML Editor and I'm having trouble installing the C++ compiler. I probably need a programmer living close to Lake City FL so that I can bring my computer and get the compiler installed. I only program in Basic and that was 50 years ago, long before Visual Basic. I have 2.65 MB xml files that needs to be split into 10 to 12 parts using the first child. Then the xml files need to be converted to csv, perhaps using Powershell. Then selected columns need to be written to new csv files, perhaps using Powershell. Then I plan to run Open Office Basic programs on that data. I know these are simple programs but I don't know enough about xml or C++ to write them myself. However it is accomplished, it must be by script and not Windows based and it needs to be fast. It's horse racing data and I will receive 10 to 20 large files every day and I will be running Basic programs on 100 to 200 csv files every day. Don
