We are looking for an energetic and ambitious part-time editor for our financial blog
The ideal candidate will be a stock-market addict, avid reader of the financial blogs and online financial news, and will write with clarity and appreciate the writing of others. This will be ideal for MBA student, Business major, financial professional, stock broker, analyst, stay at home ex Wall St mom/dad or someone who wants a voice and is passionate about writing.
It's not enough to have an opinion, you must be a keen editor of others'. We are actively soliciting other writers and the editor will be the main point of contact for this. The ability to inspire, motivate, and negotiate with others is important. You will be responsible for posting others content to our blog giving them the appropriate attribution. You will repost 4-6 articles per day from a list of writers we use. This is more of an editorial job than a writing but original content can be used if so inclined. Subject matter is often up to your discretion
We're looking for someone who is tech-savvy, detail-oriented, has experience with Wordpress, and has had active involvement in the stock market industry in some capacity.. We are constantly posting new articles from our contributors so the candidate will need to be flexible and able to adapt to change quickly.
Salary: We estimate 2 hours per day assuming you are already a student of the markets. If not you will not be able to do this in that time period. Salary range is $400-500 per month depending on qualifications and prior abilities.
Hours: This is a work-from-home position - It is a demanding job, but also unbelievably fun, and an opportunity to work with social media and current web technologies. This is an ongoing position, not a one month project. No end in sight. A great opportunity for someone in this business to supplement income.
Tasks involved:
Monitor a daunting collection of real-time news and commentary sources
Select topics on the go and write concise, factually-accurate summaries and market updates ), linking to the best sources on a topic while developing a nuanced personal voice. Ideal for someone who is doing this already.
Create home-page content units that aggregate multiple viewpoints around key stories. Work with and solicit independent writers and assist them in posting their own content to the blog.
Copy-edit own work and that of others on the fly
Requirements:
Intimate understanding of the stock market's various sectors and sub-sectors, and their key players
Intense familiarity with online financial media and the financial/econo-blogosphere
Ability to quickly research and grasp unfamiliar topics
Experience with RSS, Twitter, HTML and web publishing although complete technical support is provide so don't let that thwart you. We can do the technical but can't teach you how to write.
