You are required to study the following 2 papers (which will be provided to interested parties upon request), 1. The JPEG 2000 Still Image Compression Standard, by Athanassios Skodras, Charilaos Christopoulos, and Touradj Ebrahimi (23 pages) 2. A Tutorial on Modern Lossy Wavelet Image Compression: Foundations of JPEG 2000, by Bryan E. Usevitch (14 pages) Then write a technical report/eassy of 8 to 10 pages to: 1. Explain the wavelet image coding (encoding + decoding) principles 2. Explain JPEG 2000 image coding (encoding + decoding) principles, especially on the quantization scheme and other special features. 3. Briefly compare JPEG 2000 and JPEG Baseline codings.
