Project Objectives:
– Analysis will seek to understand elements of two (2) syringe driver designs which impact final product robustness, manufacturability, and overall accuracy.
– Where appropriate, physics models will be created using Excel, Matlab, or similar tools.
– The main purpose of this analysis is to understand potential failure modes and product risks and then to propose methods of mitigating and testing the device for said issues.
– Consultant to provide recommendations as to the fitness of the syringe driver design for manufacturing scale-up.
– Where appropriate, physics models will be created using Excel, Matlab, or similar tools.
-- Encoders on the syringe driver lead screws are used to measure dosing and flowrates.
-- The syringe drivers are driven by a lead screw which is actuated via stepper motor.
Project Scope:
Phase 1: Knowledge Transfer
Phase 2: Perform comprehensive state-transition analysis (anchored by visual mind map)
– Identify and map standard states
– Brainstorm non-intended/alternative states and then map them in the transition analysis
Phase 3: Theoretical assessment of critical states and interfaces
– Quasi-static analysis baseline (pressures, forces, deformations of parts)
– Where needed, employ dynamic analysis (impacts, fluid flows etc.)
– Strengths of materials (FEM, fundamental hand calculations) where appropriate – Tolerance analysis and impact of limit conditions on overall accuracy
– Design for manufacturability assessment
Phase 4: Create preliminary DFMEA to itemize and rank potential failure modes
Phase 5: Summary Report
– Describe analysis methodology and important assumptions
– Highlight potential failure modes
– Identify risk areas in the design
– Recommend mitigations to observed issues
Deliverables:
Documentation:
– State-transition mind maps
– Free body diagrams, as applicable
– Appraisal documents, files (Excel, Matlab, or similar) – High-level preliminary DFMEA document
– Final recommendation
– Summary Report
