Category Browser with Search (jQuery, HTML, CSS)

The category browser/search component on our job posting form needs to be revamped. The objectives of this project are to improve the quality and readability of the code, make it more customizable and flexible, separate all styling to a css file, improve performance, and port it from Prototype to jQuery. [login to view URL] The current code is so messy so that a complete rewrite is needed. It should work on all major browsers. The code must be extremely well written and readable.
