An ActiveX control to input data in IE

I am developing an order input system on the Web (in PHP, for what matters). Typically, adding an item to the order would require something like the following: 1) search for the product in the DB 2) select it (if there are more than a single match) 3) enter quantity and go to 1 This makes the imnput quite slow, if for every step you have to contact the server again. what I would like to have is something like this: an HTML form with (for example) 10 blank lines on order: [code] [description] [quantity] [other inputbox] [other inputbox] [code] [description] [quantity] [other inputbox] [other inputbox] [code] [description] [quantity] [other inputbox] [other inputbox] [code] [description] [quantity] [other inputbox] [other inputbox] [code] [description] [quantity] [other inputbox] [other inputbox] (the lines are initially blank) On the side is an ActiveX control that has already downloaded all the products' catalogue. The activeX watches the form, and when something is typed in a [description] box, looks up the description in the DB and (in its box) proposes a list of the matching products. Clicking on one product in the Activex would fill the corresponding [code] box. After all the lines are filled up (or the order is completed) the user sends the form to the server: we have 1 single connection instead of 2-3 connections for each row. Alternatively, one could move the [description] box where you enter data in the ActiveX itself: when you enter something in the [description] the control searches the catalog and proposes the matching products. Selecting a product fills up the [code] box. The ActiveX should cache the products catalog locally, and if the catalog is older than (for example) 3 hours download it again from a specific URL in a delimited format. I would like the activex to be written in VB6, but on this point (and in any other point of the specs) I am open to suggestions. ## Deliverables 1) Complete and fully-functional working program(s) in executable form as well as complete source code of all work done. 2) Deliverables must be in ready-to-run condition, as follows (depending on the nature of the deliverables): a) For web sites or other server-side deliverables intended to only ever exist in one place in the Buyer's environment--Deliverables must be installed by the Seller in ready-to-run condition in the Buyer's environment. b) For all others including desktop software or software the buyer intends to distribute: A software installation package that will install the software in ready-to-run condition on the platform(s) specified in this bid request. 3) All deliverables will be considered "work made for hire" under U.S. Copyright law. Buyer will receive exclusive and complete copyrights to all work purchased. (No GPL, GNU, 3rd party components, etc. unless all copyright ramifications are explained AND AGREED TO by the buyer on the site per the coder's Seller Legal Agreement). ## Platform ActiveX for IE. Please specify the language you plan to use, and if your imnplementation has specific requirements (IE version etc.)
