I have an Access database application using Access tables, and a separate web-based application using SQL Server backend. I need certain fields (about 5-10) to be updated from Access to SQL Server and vice versa. In other words, field data from Access will need to be copied over to SQL Server, and SQL Server will need to be copied to Access. Only certain fields.
The process could be fully automated and run in the background periodically, or 'on demand' via an Access form. The process will be initiated from Access, unless there is a clean way to initiate it from SQL Server.
We should also create an update log, which records the results of the process each time it is performed.
The rules regarding which fields to copy over should be relatively easy to change as we will be refining this process for a while. The connection string for the SQL database will need to be stored in Access somehow, or it should be easy to change.
