Specification a secure web-based system for one university coursework management: 1 All courses run only once in one academic year, have a unique code for each title and level: 2 All courses are organised by department, and each department has a named manager and a named administrator. 3 A Log in for system administrator to maintain / update the role of Manager / department administrator 4 Student and staff data is not necessary to be maintained 5 Each course has a specified coordinator and moderator 6 A Log in for department admin to maintain / update the role of coordinator and moderator 7 All courses different number of courseworks. The weighting of these is pre-defined by university and it is un-changeable. 8 Coursework cannot be processed until the course has assigned with coordinator, moderator , department manager and department administrator. 9 The workflow for a coursework is as follows i Coursework template is generated once coursework parameters (e.g. release date, due date) are updated by coordinator ii Coordinator upload the coursework (word format) and system generate a notification email to moderator for approval. iii Moderator can Approve or Reject it. iiia If Reject, system will generate an email to coordinator iiib If Approve, student can get the coursework on web after the release date iv Student can upload the coursework many times and system will kept the latest one v After due date, coordinator can mark and comment the coursework after the due date. System will generate a notification email to moderator for approval vi Student can then read the mark/comment on web 10. Reports available for coordinator and department administrator i. To show the current status of the system. ii. Statistics report (e.g. average mark for each coursework) iii. Exception reports a Courses with no approved courseworks b Students fail to submit course before the deadline c Coursework not yet marked and moderated.
