Cut together video footage and powerpoint slides

You should have strong experience working with and cutting together video footage. The final video must be of excellent quality and HIGHLY professional.
I have 20 minutes worth of video of a presentation I gave. It's been split into 2 files that are H264 encoded by apple quicktime - 1.1G and 578M each.
I also have a powerpoint presentation that goes with the video (~24 slides) that I want integrated into the video footage.
The final outcome should be that I'll get a single video that shows the presentation in full and includes the slides which will switch at the appropriate times in the video.
I'm open to suggestions about how to include the slides in the footage, but my current thinking is to have the slides showing on the left, and the footage on the right (left / right screen split).
