I'm looking to develop a mobile/phone based application along with website that will allow users to easily post text, messages, pictures, video, and voice recordings (all multimedia that current phones and smartphones are capable of producing) to a personal profile page on a website where others can view and comment on the content. This would be a kind of a mobile blog site that allowed people to store and display their pictures, writings (notes), videos, and audio recordings to easily.
The basis for this is similar to another well known website called Twiter.com. However, the difference and advantage is that 1. our site will allow both text and multimedia messages to be posted. 2. If possible, messages will be sent using a web-browser like application on a user's device that will connect and transmit on the user's mobile data network rather than via the sms and mms system. The reason for this is purely [url removed, login to view] possibly millions of messages comming into the site daily, the cost of an sms/mms gateway would be impossible to sustain.
The difficulty will be making the mobile application as easy and seemless to use as sending a picture or text or anything else via the mms or sms system. Also, the application should work on as wide a veriety of devices as possible.
Please let me know your thoughts. I need some advice on the best way to impliment this idea.
