Linux Kernel Boot Problems

We have a Dell R720XD with a dual port SD card to run the os from. This shows as a SCSI/USB device. We were able to install Debian (wheezy) on this without issue.

We upgraded the kernel to [url removed, login to view] without issue.

We upgraded the kernel to 3.13 (also tried 3.12 3.14 and 3.16) without success. At the start of boot the kernel panics because it can not find the rootfs.

We are using UUID's (so it should be picked up if it can see it, even if the device naming changed)

We booted into systemrescue CD with a 3.14 kernel - it can see the drives, so we should be able to boot from them under our kernel.

have tried added a 'rootdelay=300' to the boot options without success.

Grub2 is in use, and we have a modest understanding of Debian and kernels' (have been compiling since linux kernel 2.2) - just need help diagnosing / troubleshooting.

We are not able to give direct remote access, however are able to relay commands/test instructions. We need help getting the [url removed, login to view] kernel to boot from the dual SD module.

Note: If we select a lower kernel module at boot it boots without issue (so I feel this is a kernel/configuration issue, not a hardware issue)
