Cleaning up source code

For many years I have used Microsoft Word to make my websites. Now I can see the source code needs cleaning up as it is full of errors, and that is what I want done.
For a search on Google for the words "craps strategy" up to a month ago, I would come up #3. Now I am about 400 if I can be found at all. Same with Bing and Yahoo.
Maybe cleaning up my code and fixing my meta tags would get me back my rating.
