I want a website where I can upload public court docs from a high profile court case. Some documents will be one PDF and some will be a folder containing 4 or 5 PDF's. The important thing is I would like to be able to give a brief description of each PDF or folder. This allows the viewer to pick and choose what they want to read. I want to have the ability as administrator to choose if the viewer can view only or view and download if they wish as well as print. I think the site should function like a Timeline where the viewer can look and decide what time period of the case they want to look at.
There are many individuals involved in the case so I was thinking on the left going down the people involved are listed alphabetically. If the viewer wants to just look at the docs that are applicable to that person they can click on that name and those files and folders appear.
This is not a website that needs to be "pretty" its an information website that the user can start from the beginning to the end and read every PLEADING, MOTION, ORDER, TRANSCRIPT, DISCOVERY DOCUMENT etc if they want (which they won't because that would take weeks. But they will want to review specific documents or dates during the case or just the documents specific to one or two of the people, like their deposition or open court testimony.
If this website is done right to where it is easy to navigate to get specific documents or to specific persons information or want to know the entire story (6 years in the court) what will be discovered by the user is one of the most remarkable stories they have ever read. It took place in the most corrupt County per capita in the U.S. and truly is an amazing story how one person overcame an entire county that needed him to fail at pursuing the truth. This website will not only reveal the truth but it will document it for the future. Anyway, this is what I am looking for in a website. It will be informational only, I am not looking for comments to be posted or likes or dislikes or anything like that. I want people to be able to share the site. These documents are PDF's, they are public documents but very few people know how to obtain public court documents.
I would like people to have to register or at least provide a valid email address to enter the site but I don't want to stop people from checking it out. Maybe they get to check it out and get a sample only if they don't register and if they do they get it all. Or they can only view the docs and not be able to download or print if they don't register and can print and download if the do. Obviously I am looking for suggestions.
I have classified it as a small project. If its more than tell me and why. The most important function for the administrator is uploading many PDF's and folders, being able to name them and add a brief description if the file name itself doesn't adequately describe the document. Some PDF's will be 5-10 mg and folders could be up to 1 gig. Oh, and it needs to be mobile also so people can look at it from their phone or tablet.
And NOTIFICATIONS, once its launched with all current docs the users can sign up to receiver notifications when new docs have been uploaded. I want analytic I'm interested in the number of new users but not as much as where the users are located.
Bottom line is I know what I want but there are other things that I don't know about to make the site user friendly easy to use. This site is not going to generate any money and the number of interested users is very limited. But its the only way I know how to tell the story and it is documented, it doesn't contain opinions or hearsay or gossip. And nobody gets to comment and I don't care if they like what they read or not. It will be the facts and only the facts supported by legal court documents. If anybody is interested contact me.
