Build an electronic circuit board to control a 6v DC motor.

I need two identical motor control circuits delivered to me in Tennessee for use on a prototype devise. They can use any type of over the counter circuitry such as a programmable mini AT. As long as it will fit in the space available and sequence the way that I need, it will work. This will not be for mass production so I do not need an intergraded circuit design, just a quick, cheap circuit to test my prototype design. The following are my specifications:
Size and mounting:
The above illustration is not to scale and shows a circuit board of 52 mm by 32 mm and may be slightly smaller but not larger. It has two 7 mm sq. areas in the upper corners that are for mounting and must be clear of circuitry. There is 6 mm clearance below the board and 15 mm clearance above it. It has a row of solder pins along the lower part of the board that stick up about 10 mm or so and are for making a solder connection of wires to the devise. The circuit board will connect to 6 switches, a power supply and a motor. The solder pins can be arranged in any order that is convenient. The connections are as follows:
1. Universal ground
2. 6v + DC Power supply switch (N/C, power on)
3. Motor forward run
4. Motor reverse run
5. Motor forward run stop switch (N/C, circuit opens when motor reaches end of forward run)
6. Motor reverse run stop switch (N/C, circuit opens when motor reaches end of reverse run)
7. Primary gate switch (Circuit closed when gate open, circuit open when gate closed)
8. Secondary gate switch (Circuit closed when gate closed, circuit open when gate open)
9. Auto/Manual switch (Circuit open for one function and closed for the other, it doesn’t matter which one)
The 6v power supply will run a 6v DC reversible motor that draws a maximum of 1 amp at stall. The motor will typically run for 5 seconds forward and 5 seconds in reverse per sequence and will remain in the start position at the end of the sequence for a prolonged period of time. The devise will have three operating sequences as follows:
Enter sequence:
Start position: Auto/ Manual switch on Auto, Motor stopped at reverse stop switch, Primary gate closed (switch open), Secondary gate closed (switch closed), no action.
Action: Secondary gate opens. Next: Primary gate opens. Next: Primary gate closes at which time a 6 second timeout occurs after which the motor runs forward to the forward run stop switch and stops. Next: Secondary gate closes at which time the motor runs in reverse to the reverse run stop switch and stops. We are now returned to the start position.
Exit sequence: Same start position as enter sequence.
Action: Primary gate opens. Next: Secondary gate opens. Next: Primary gate closes at which time a 6 second timeout occurs after which the motor runs forward to the forward run stop switch and stops. Next: the secondary gate closes and the motor runs in reverse to the reverse run stop switch and stops. We are now returned to the start position
Manual sequence: The Auto/Manual switch is switched to Manual at which time the motor runs forward to the forward run stop switch and stops. The unit will no longer respond to input from the gate switches and will remain in this position till the switch is returned to Auto at which time unit will again continue to complete the entrance and exit sequences till the unit has returned to the start position.
The problem that I have had in the past is that the motor run forward sequence would start upon the opening of the primary gate instead of upon closing. This is a simple circuit but I need it to work without any glitches.
