Contest Brief

I run a creative strategy practice that advises major global brands on their positioning strategy. The company is called Ricebowl. This contest is for a master logo design that can be used as the starting point for our entire corporate look and feel across media touchpoints (physical media eg. business cards and letterheads, as well as social media eg. FB and Instagram)

Why Ricebowl?
The idea behind the name it is that rice is a collective grain from start to finish - it needs the collective effort of many to cultivate and harvest, and when it is sold and consumed, the grains are not of value individually, but collectively.
My practice works collectively with extremely bright, experienced strategists all over the world to deliver creative strategies that are tailored to every client's specific problem. I work very closely with my clients, becoming a part of their internal team.
This spirit of collaboration/ the collective, is very important to the company, and is something I would love to see reflected in the logo.

Secondly, Ricebowl was created out of a desire to streamline and simplify the brand positioning process. In the advertising and branding world, positioning can often become a really complicated, long process, involving a ton of stakeholders and lots of tedious research. It doesn't have to be that way. With the right, experienced brains around the table, and a complete refusal to engage in red tape, you can crack a great brand positioning quickly and painlessly. This spirit of clean, modern simplicity is a big part of the Ricebowl brand, and I would love to see it reflected in the logo.

Finally, there is a small influence of the 1920s and 1930s in the work we do - seeing the world through a more modern lens. The current font being used by the company is Gotham.

Notes on deliverables:
> The logo should include the wordmark Ricebowl and any other image that is felt to be appropriate.
> If the solution offered is logo + wordmark, then I'd like to see the two elements both separately and as a lockup.
> Please provide both colour treatments and black + white usage options. In terms of colour palette, the two colour schemes that we are interested in exploring are the traditional blue+white Chinese rice bowl colours (google Chinese rice bowls) and the pastel shades of traditional Peranakan ceramics (google Peranakan ceramics or Peranakan bowl)
> Please explore some option that includes a visualisation of a rice bowl, and/or grains of rice.
