Contest Brief

We’re looking for a original conceptual illustration for a book cover design. Illustration can be hand-drawn or digitally created. The genre of the story is ‘cyberpunk’ or ’science fiction’.

The premise of the story is about a computer programmer who created a female avatar (a 3D holographic artificial intelligence) to replace the love of his life. Eventually the avatar develops human-like consciousness and falls in love with him but he had to reject the avatar. The rest of the story narrates on how the programmer deals with the wrath of the avatar.

The main theme of the story is on the symbiotic relationship between man and machine. Other possible themes may include ’Man vs Technology’, ‘Creator and Creation’ and ‘Future of Artificial Intelligence’.

For the illustration, we’re looking for an artwork that is
- futuristic
- dystopian
- bleak
- dark and grim

Some ideas that may spark any new concepts:
- female android face, half human, half code
- holographic avatar being projected from laptop or other devices
- human heart that is part organic, part robotic
- probably a modern interpretation of Michelangelo’s ‘Creation of Adam’

Some samples of styles that we may be interested in are attached below.

Please note that if you intend to propose a female android illustration, she must be alluring and attractive, but not overly revealing or sexy.

    Hi everyone, thanks for all your submissions. As of now, we are shortlisting 2 to 3 artwork that we feel best represent the content and style that we are aiming for. We will be making our decision in 24 hours. It's best that you do not send in any new artwork, as we hate to waste more of your time.
