UPDATE - Although I would prefer the use of WW2 USMC theme as your main images, I understand (from running this clan for 7 years) that it is difficult finding much material on the web to better help you as a artist. So, I have increased the prize money and opened it up to being able to use current day (present) USMC images as well. This should instantly give any of you still struggling to come up with an idea for a design instant stockpiles of material to go off of now.

- UPDATE (2) - I added a "WHAT I LIKE" section at the bottom of this request and gave examples of what I like and do not like.

- It is the tan looking image with yellow writing

About the Design I Need
- Dimensions need to be: 1399w x 298h
- Colors - Simply needs to fit the overall theme and appearance. So no sky blues or anything like that.
- More inspiration can be found at our main site at: http://3rdmarines.org

- Theme - This is for a gaming site, but we try to have a semi-realistic look and appearance. Theme should be military in nature, especially USMC. If you decide to use WW2 images, needs to be US Marines
- Theme (cont.) - Try to stay away from anything game related as this may confuse people visiting our site and wondering why we have images of a game we are not in.

IMPORTANT - Try to implement the text I have that describes our clan if possible

WHAT I LIKE

I like simple. I do not like a lot going on in my images, but instead prefer to keep them clean and natural looking. Our gaming clan focuses on reenactment moreso than clan wars and playing in matches/leagues. We try to portray ourselves as a real USMC rifle platoon in and out of game in all appearances. However, because I like images that do not have a lot of stuff going on, I instead focus on small and interesting details.

I have updated my forum theme header to show everyone the direction I am going for with a more realistic look than clan-look. Unfortunately I am making this for another site and it is DDay (Army). I am not sure if you guys can see eachother entries or not. If you can, as of right now I am definitely feeling Entry 19 and the clever use of different colors (kind of gives it a HBO "The Pacific" feel without actually using a image from the movie.

Entry 21 was also clever in how he buried the Eagle Globe and Anchor (EGA) with the sun rays going through it.

All others have some elements I like as well. Do not worry so much with text styles just yet, I know those can take a while to get just right and I definitely want something that kind of looks like a logo even on how the text is displayed. Basically, not just left to right, but something abstract or contemporary. This would be time consuming obviously so I'd hold up on it until the overall image is pretty much what I would definitely consider awarding as the winner.

Everyone, I have updated the contest (again). Some of you guys are getting close to what I like, but so far all have areas that I also don't like too much. In the update, I explained more what I like and do not like. I also removed the recommendation to use sand as a backdrop as I understand this can be difficult and no one has got close to how I had envisioned it. That is not anyone's fault, everyone has different tastes.

Hopefully with the updated explanations and examples, some of you guys who have very clear talent may want to take another stab. I also increased the total prize to $80 and am also willing to look at a second place prize if the artist is up to it for $40.
