Contest Brief

You are going to be designing a logo that will be included in promotional material for a book that is currently being written and promoted. It is a science-fiction work, featuring a group called the “Oxford Rebel Alliance”. They need a logo. The logo design will draw from a variety of sources - including logos for communist groups and rebel groups, but must also feature a Rastafarian colour scheme (gold, green, red).
The main idea I have features several components.

Idea 1:
- Across the top of the logo should be the letters “O. R. A”.
- The middle should feature a communist style logo, with three items overlaid
1) A cannabis leaf in the background, in green
2) A gun overlaid (use SA80 as a template), in gold or black
3) and a scythe in red, or some other piece of common gardening equipment, such as rake, fork, spade etc.
- At the bottom, should be some text in a Latin font, that. This will be written on something that looks like a scroll or parchment. The words on this should state “OXFORD REBEL ALLIANCE”
The overall shape of the logo could be drawn from the University of Oxford Logo. E.g. see:

To give you some idea of how this should be arranged, see the attached scan (I apologise for my very poor artistic skills 

Idea 2:
This idea makes more use of the University of Oxford Logo above. In this version, the Oxford logo is adapted, so that the University Of Oxford text is altered to say “Oxford Rebel Alliance”. Within the middle of the logo, instead of the three crowns and a book, we now have an emblem with a cannabis leaf, scythe, and gun. The colour scheme will be in gold, green and red.

These are the two main ideas I have. However, I am open-minded to other entries.
