Contest Brief

We need a new website for our startup, RealizeTomorrow. It's a platform for people to get current news on all things tech and things that can change our future. Articles will focus on new gadgets coming to marking, news about NASA, SpaceX, new companies promising to make a change, and environmental advancements (government regulations, new solar panels or other types of new energy).

We would like:
A WordPress site,
A modern and clean look (not cluttered),
A simple palette possibly using blue,
Super mobile friendly with easy access to share articles on social media,
A standout first impression! (It's a website about tech and the future, go bold and be creative. We want people to say "wow". Think hero images, background videos, vibrant colors etc.)
We like parallax designs, but it's not essential as long as the rest of the site is still impressive,
We don't want an off the shelf WordPress theme (it's not hard to google WordPress themes, we want something new),
A way for people to sign up to a mailing list,
multimedia friendly (it'll have images and videos).

The supernova, Obsession, Mies and Rock Group templates should give you an idea of what we're looking for in terms of "first impressions".
The rest of the homepage would ideally be segmented for 6 categories using different colors, shades or a parallax background, with room for one main featured article/image/video on one side and multiple smaller article titles on the other.

The article pages should continue a modern and clean theme, but they can be more conventional. Something like this;

but without all the advertising (with the ability to easily add it later on though) and the right side of it cleaned up a bit, it looks quite cluttered. A good comments/discussion section under articles is important too.

There is, of course, some creative freedom with the layout, we'd love to see some new ideas.

**UPDATE**
This theme is a good example of what we would like the opening page to be like, please take note of the following features. http://www.highgradelab.com/obsession-4/
- How it opens to a full page image and also has a full page video. we'd like something like that with our name, space for a slogan or description, social media buttons and somewhere to sign up to the mailing list.
- If you look at the team members on this page, when you mouse over them it comes up with a description. We'd like something like that main feature articles in each section.
- Also, how the background changes with each category

Working on a live demo for you so please wait. Will have several different version with background movie with text slider overlay. Home page is a landing page with all 6 categories and menu scrolls down to category more that shows latest 10 for each category in a slider with a view all button that takes you to the full list of the category.

I've mentioned a couple of websites that I like the feel of in the comments. However, we're wanting something a little different, something that stands out from the crowd a bit (meaning we haven't really seen it). We encourage people to use their own creativity and submit anything that they are proud of. As long as it's modern, uncluttered, mobile friendly, easy to share content and multimedia friendly, then it will be strongly considered.

Hello, just to clarify , you will need a blog that you will post Articles to it, which mean you will select the news you want and write about it , or you want like online magazine , they are the same but with little different in functions

  More like an online magazine, just something quite professional, clean and crisp that isn't cluttered. A blog could also work if it's designed well, so we welcome designs for both.
