Was moved to implementation technician and later to head Linux consultant and trainer. Facilitated regular Linux courses ranging from basic users to advanced systems and network administration at the company's Cape Town and George offices. Also worked closely with the sales team as a pre-sales consultant for Linux and other OSS solutions. Achievements are outlined below. - Procured the contract and headed the team which successfully completed the migration of Mossel Bay municipality's ICT infrastructure from MS Windows/Novell to SuSE Linux. This project was the first of its kind in the western Cape and included a roll out of 50 Linux desktops, a Linux based firewall and proxy, file and print server with fail over to a hot stand by system, and mail and web servers. - Implemented a High Availability ISP solution for ATCDM in Cape Town. Solution was based on a 5 node Linux Virtual Machine (LVM) cluster which hosted their mail and web servers. Also deployed a squid hierarchical proxy server solution, firewall, and dial up server. - Implemented a Linux based ICT infrastructure at Cango Wines, Oudtshoorn. - Guest speaker at first Open Source conference in Gabarone, Botswana. - Implemented several other small scale, Linux based solutions for, and delivered training to RPC Data's clients. Linux Trainer and Consultant Freelance From August 2003 to June 2006 Highlights and achievements outlined below. - Delivered complete SuSE Linux curriculum to Novell Middle East in Dubai. - Delivered Linux training to Tanzania Telecomunications Company, Dar Es Salaam. - Developed the Xpedio Linux based product suite for Enigmatis, Dubai. - Developed and delivered LTSP course for Western Cape educational department. - Delivered Linux training to RPC Data's “Education Vacation†clients in Cape Town. - Delivered internal Linux training to RPC Data staff in George and Gabarone. - Delivered complete SuSE Linux curriculum for Enigmatis's clients, Dubai. - Delivered complete SuSE Linux curriculum to Caledonian College of engineering, Oman. - Implemented a HA, load ballancing, LVS cluster for Oman Ministry of tourism. Linux Team Manager for SYSDBA (PTY) ltd Highlights and achievements outlined below - Was responsible for implementing a UNIX baseline security standard for MTN , one of two South African mobile service providers. Standard was enforced on Tru-64 Unix, HP-UX and RedHat Enterprise Linux servers. Wrote all Implementation documents as well as automated implementation tools to enforce the standard.
