I've been writing specifically for the Internet for over a year now, which means that I'm not sending out query letters to big magazines to be published ... too time consuming! The bulk of what I do is either simple filler articles about specific topics or keyword articles that need to emphasize specific words or phrases to help web owners optimize their site/s for the search engines, yet keep text readable for real people to read.
Currently I write on a regular basis for a couple of web design/hosting companies that offer web text as a part of a custom package and I enjoy doing that so much because I'm always writing about different topics.
I work from my home on the east coast of the United States, I admit ... I dropped out of college to pursue life in general and the very reason I work from home is to be with my children. Three boys that keep me on my toes! I work an average 8-5 day in my home office usually barefoot, sporting my favorite shorts for comfort with a scrunchie pulling my hair out of my face with my wonder dog (Chuba) at my feet.
Equipped with my cell phone by my side and a cup of piping hot joe (the blacker the better), I work!
When I was a little younger I married a man from a foreign country and when the relationship failed, he kidnapped our son. Frantically, four years later I traveled and found my son, he's been home with me since february 2005. He's learned English in lightening speed, he's in first grade and doing remarkably well.
I suppose my fear of losing him again is what drives me to work from home and maintain my business of writing. I take him and pick him up every day from school, working outside of the home would never give me the flexibility I need to be with him around the clock.
My son's life in America is much better than his life in the foreign country where I found him and I intend to give him everything he needs ... while I work from home.
When I work I get into a zone of deep concentration and I pump out the work in front of me, writer's block is a bad word at my house. Although the atmosphere in which I work may sound a bit laid back, it's anything but laid back because I take my work very seriously.
Writing in general is a touchy subject and everyone has their own expectations, that's what I need to know before I write. Should an article be informative, serious toned, business like, fun to read, conversational or is there an angle? My clients tell me and well ... I produce!
That's my story, as long as it is and you can bet that if I'm selected for a job that I'll do my absolute best. My phone number is even posted on the services page of my site ... it doesn't get any better than that!
