I am currently working as a GIS Engineer at the Municipality Bakeereya Governorate KSA, where I am involved in the digitization of Land Records of the Al-Bukayriyah City with the help of AutoCAD and ArcGIS. Before here, I worked as a GIS Associate at the Greenage Services PK, where I was also involved in the digitization of Land Records but with the help of Automation in ArcGIS - ArcPy. Moreover, I also worked as a Remote Sensing & GIS Intern at the Pakistan Meteorological Department PK, where I assisted my team in coding the MODIS Snow Cover Tool in Python and MATLAB under the supervision of Senior Meteorologist Dr. Furrukh Bashir. Lastly, I worked as a GIS Analyst Trainee with the FieldTrend Company based in California, USA, where I had the opportunity to gain practical work experience and polish my programming skills in Python and PostGIS - an extension of QGIS for PostgreSQL. In python, I worked with libraries such as sci-kit learn, arcpy, JSON, Selenium, beautifulsoup, pytesseract, NumPy, cv2, and psycopg2. And in PostGIS, I was asked to make some customized functions.
During the final year project of my bachelor’s studies, I had the opportunity to work on “Lineaments Mapping of a Region in Pakistan using Optical and SAR Remote Sensing Data” under the supervision of Dr. Waqas Qazi. The project focused on one of the applications of satellite remote sensing to geological studies, using Sentinel 1 and Sentinel 2 satellite imagery to map out the lineaments. Most of the work was done in SNAP and ENVI software and some programming using ENVI IDL language.
