The site will need to handle customers that will sign up and create an account on the website with login name and password. They will need to be able to deposit money using credit card and paypal. The site is based on survivor pools which is basically a weekly pickem style type of gambling for sports. The main sport used with this is american football, although i plan to also have hockey and basketball as part of the site. Possibly baseball as well if it makes sense but for now, hockey, football, and basketball would be the main focus. Lets use football as an example of what I would like to create. Once someone has created an account and deposited money into the account, they will be able enter two types of contests; A year long survivor pool which they can enter before the start of any season and weekly survivor pool contests that are run every weekend. Lets start with the year long survivor pools.
Year long survivor pools work like this. A person has to pick a team to win a football game every weekend. Once that person picks a team, they are no longer allowed to use that team for the rest of the year. Once a team that someone has picked loses, their entry will be eliminated from the contest. This means I need a site that allows someone (once they've deposited money and entered a contest) to be able to see all NFL scheduled games week by week and be able to pick any team they want to win for that week. Once a team is picked, the system needs to remember the pick they made so that if the person moves onto the next week, the system will not allow that person to repick the team that they picked from the previous week. And of course the system needs to eliminate any entries that did not win that week. I use the word entries because people will be able to enter contests more than once (up to 20 times). All entries will be done before the NFL regular season starts. After the first week, the system will need to take care of everything else as no more entries are allowed. This format for season long survivor pools will be the basis for the other sports as well (with minor changes) NFL teams as you know play 1 game per week. NHL and NBA teams usually play once or twice a weekend so when a person picks a team to win a weekend, that team has to win 50% of its games that weekend. The system obviously will need to automatically eliminate entries that did not win half their games and do everything just as the NFL rules I explained above.
So what I explained above is just the season long survivor pools. Like I mentioned earlier, I would also like to run weekly survivor pools with different entry options. For example once someone is logged in, they will see a list of contests they can enter ranging in price and criteria. These will be able to be sorted through filters and the options they can select. The weekly contests will range from 2 player, 4 player, 10 player, and 20 player contests, maybe more. And the buy- ins will range from $2, 5, 10, 20, 30, 50, 75, 100 or more with a entry fee tied to each entry. The higher the buy in, the larger the fee will be.
