Using AnyDesk connect my MacBook to a server (running Ubuntu 20.04 LTS) using an ethernet cable, either standard or crossover. The server is not connected to the Internet. The server is connected to a keyboard and monitor which I can use to login as root and enter commands as per the freelancer’s instructions. The object is to be able to access the server using the MacBook and an ethernet cable. I thought that the attached download from the Internet might be helpful.

There are more than few ways to achieve what you are anticipating but for that, a freelancer will need to know your use case. Are you hoping to achieve the Ubuntu machine's Desktop on your Mac? Are you just willing to access Data/files from the Ubuntu Machine? Is it another service on the Ubuntu that you require to access via IP? Regards
