(IMPORTANT: Not looking for speakers of Nepali and Newari.)
There are currently 12 Sino-Tibetan languages of Nepal that we are currently looking for data of. You will need to make audio recordings of several hundred words in your language. Please apply only if you can speak any one of the following languages fluently, or know someone who can do so.
No need to write a long cover letter. Just tell us what language you can speak.
LANGUAGES NEEDED (any one of the following; not all of them):
Western Nepal - Raji, Raute, Rajwar, Rawat, Dura, Tandrange, Kaike
Eastern Nepal - These 5 Kiranti languages: Chhintang, Koyee, Mugali, Saam, Puma
We do not need speakers of any other languages.
This is academic research that is part of the Sino-Tibetan Branches Project (STBP).
Thank you for your interest!
Well I'm from Nepal and I think this job is too hard. You are searching for people who can speak almost 10 ethnic languages. They almost vary totally and in my view it is almost hard to find those people.
I am a native Nepali speaker. I have different friends of mine who can speak the languages which you have mentioned so I will be a great asset to your project. I hope you will make the right decision and give the project to me.
