Our team is looking to contract a developer/consultant for a video game project. We are seeking a programmer experienced in the Unity platform to help a team of artists realize a vision for a RPG game named Monochrome. For the initial engagement, the consultant will build a demo version of the game, including basic game dynamics, using the art provided and the game description offered by the team. Additionally, the consultant will build a technical roadmap document, describing the requirements for building the full version of the game, and estimating the number of hours required for all technical tasks. The team will use these documents and the demo to seek further funding for game development.
The game will consist of two dimensional characters working in three dimensional environments. The battle system will take inspiration from more recent RPGs, including Super Mario RPGs, Legend of the Seven Stars, with switchable playable characters. Our goal is also to integrate puzzles and use principles of animation and keyframes as a core gameplaying experience. The environments will be similar to Paper Mario, and deploy classically designed animation characters, along with sprites developed by the team. Character styles will vary in different levels of the game, consistent with the thematic inspiration of each level. This game is projected to have multiple worlds/levels, bosses, side quests, along with pregame and post game content.
