I own a small computer repair/maintenance company and we are doing more and more remote work each year. The software we use is intended as a 24/7 open connection to our remote server, giving the user one-click access to a technician..
This is fine for our business customers, however we have a lot of home user customers as well and they don't like the idea of the open connection. I'm an old scripter, going back to the early 90's so it was easy to create three WMI scripts and embed them in a Livecode GUI. But I only know enough Linux scripting to get myself into trouble.
I need Apple equivalents of the WMI Scripts I wrote for Windows. Here is what they do:
1. A script to check the running status of the service that returns a boolean
2. A script that enables the service and sets it to start automatically on bootup.
3. A script to disable the service and sets it to NOT start automatically on bootup.
The remote control software we're trying to manipulate uses the launchd system.
