Hi, thanks for posting an interesting project. Measuring speed with PHP is done with ob_start()/ob_get_length() functions, between them there's some page included (1 MB for example). The problem can be the delay of javascript or maybe the code is written incorrectly. I was working in a startup in my country where we were measuring the download speed in our application, so I have a huge experience on workin on things like that :) I'm an experienced web developer working on scalable, fully automated PHP applications and API-s for over 7 years and I think I can help you with the project.
