Html 5 game
I have a small line of landscaping products and I would like to work on developing an online configurator for them. Their assembly is very rules based, and I thought a person experienced in html games might be able to do this. I am suggesting HTML5 for its ability to run on a website on nearly all browsers.
My product is landscape edging.
The edging comes in 4 heights, 4, 6, 8, and 12 inch.
The edging comes in 4 lengths, 1, 2, 4, and 8 foot.
There are connectors, or corners available for each height.
The pieces are designed with a series of small holes on each end. This allows either like sizes to be bolted together, or allows assorted sizes to span from one. IE a 12 inch tall piece may split into an 8” piece and a 4” piece. Or… a 12” piece could split into a 4” corner and an 8 inch piece. The 4’ long pieces can be bent, or arced. The 8’ pieces could be bent twice, either in the same direction, to create a very large arc, or opposing, in order to create an s-curve.
The “setting” should be a perspective grid representing the ground. Thin blue lines on a white background as seen from approximately a 6’ height. The grid can be in 1’ increments. As pieces are added, and possibly extending out of sight, the “view” can pull back, allowing the perspective to display more. The view should be adjustable from straight on, to 45 degrees to the right or left, and to 90 degrees to the right or left.
The function of the program should allow a user to select a piece from a list on the right, and then drag it onto a grid. The piece would have dimension lines attached for both height and width. It should snap to one of the perspective lines. The piece could then be rotated in 90 degree increments. Dragging a second piece from a list should have a magnet like effect, so placing an end of the new piece near the end of the first piece snaps the second piece into place. For example, at the end of a 12” starting piece, a second 8” piece would snap to the bottom of the 12 inch piece. If the user then rotated the 8” piece to be a 90 degree angle, a popup should notify that “90 degree corners require corner brackets.” Acknowledging that notice would snap an appropriately sized corner bracket to the drawing.
The program does not need to save files. At least not version 1. While a user is dragging pieces on (or off) the grid, an inventory should be created that totals all parts. The user can choose to email the list to himself. Perhaps a copy to clipboard feature as well.
While I am an expert in IT and graphics, I know very little about HTML5 programming, html5 games, etc. The freelancer I choose will be able to discuss these options with me in advance, and help me understand what is possible, and what isn't. I understand that some things seem simple, but are quite difficult. Other things seem hard, yet are easy.
