I need a script or method to 'automatically' chop larger mp3 narration files into smaller files. The large files will be narrative and have 1 second breaks between phrases Each phrase can be anywhere from 2 to 50 words, and there can be anywhere from 10 to 70 phrases in each large mp3 file.

I want to be able to take 1 large mp3 file, run it through a script that you design/build for me, and the script would then create several smaller mp3 files from the one large file.

The large file name could have any file name such has: [url removed, login to view]

The smaller files that get generated should simply be: [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], etc.

## Deliverables

I currently produce online demos or tutorials... these are self-help tutorials that show people how to use certain applications in the web hosting industry. These tutorials are Flash-based.

To add sound to these demos, I send the scripts to a professional voice artist who records them. She sends me back one mp3 file per tutorial, and I instruct her to leave 1 second gaps between phrases within the mp3 file. When I get the file from her, I open it in WavePad, and then I select the first phrase in the tutorial, click EDIT then SAVE SELECT REGION AS, and then I save it into the same folder, as 1.mp3. I repeat this process for every phrase in the entire tutorial, so that I end up with several files like [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view],.... [url removed, login to view], [url removed, login to view], etc. I can then open my Demo Builder software, and import each individual file into its appropriate place in the demo, one at a time.

My problem is that I produce 100+ of these tutorials each month, and want to increase this to 200-300 per month. Each tutorial has on average, 30 different phrases.

So.....

I need a script, or an application, or another way I'm not thinking about.... that can automatically take an mp3 file, and chop it into several smaller mp3 files. I imagine it would have to search for the 1 second breaks, and when it finds one, save a new file, etc. I want this process automated.

Not sure you need this or not, but if you need to see an example of a flash demo to see what I'm talking about, here is a link to view one:

P.S. I'm attaching an example large mp3 file that you can use. This is a typical file that I would want "chopped" into smaller files.
