Stagecoach Software Pty Ltd requires a small MySQL database (Maria DB) to be built together with a ruby on rails web interface. The database will have about 10 tables. The database and RoR code will be located on a shared hosting environment under a specific domain. The purpose of the web page is to provide easy database access to a small project team unused to databases. Each table must have its own webpage and a search box above each column. The width of the table columns must be adjustable by the user. The webpages must provide the ability to add and amend rows to the tables. Secure “password only” access to the website is essential. This must be provided at administrator level, read/write level and read only level. In addition, a document repository is required. An ability to upload up to several hundred documents (mostly PDF’s) to the repository is required. Links to the PDF’s and other documents from the tables and from within the documents are also needed. Fast text searching over all the documents is required from the website. A spreadsheet containing the tables will be supplied. The existing data in the spreadsheet must be imported to the database. The deadline for completion is 8.00 AM AEST

Hello, I am a software engineer by trade, holding a computer engineering diploma from a French university. I have worked in big enterprise environments for most of my career, specialising in J2EE programming and software customisation. I now work for a big european software provider in a pre-sales position and I feel like keeping up with my programming skills. Freelancer.com seems to be the right place to do so, since it allows me to use my skills in real world projects. I am totally new to freelancer.com and my experience with Ruby on Rails is restricted to self motivated, online-learning-related projects. Having said that, I have had experience in programming in other languages and I fully understand your requirements and how to deliver them. I am also motivated by a strong desire undertake more web development projects and eventually being capable of having this as my main activity. There's a lot at stake for me in responding to this project. Due to my immediate lack of hands-on experience, I am consciously pricing my effort accordingly, as I believe there's much to gain from both parts if we reach an agreement. For the same reason, I am not yet able to provide an accurate estimate of the time it will take me to complete the task, therefore I have opted to respond with as much time as I possibly could (and I believe we will both be very happy if I finish early).
