The project is about designing the cover of a book. Title of the book is “Besides Loving the Beasts” and the subtitle will be “Wildlife Conservation in India”.
As the title indicates, the book is about Indian wildlife. Its central message is about how wildlife management in India should change to become people friendly. At present, wild animals pose a serious danger to the lives and properties of local people, but generate no benefit. The book shows that this method is unsustainable and suggests that it will be easier to save wild animals if they were less of a threat and could be a source of income to local people.
This book is 4th in a series on the subject. Therefore, we can consider keeping the general appearance of the cover page on the lines of earlier books if possible. However, the new title should also stand out among its siblings and the designer is expected to propose suitable ideas.
There can be several possible ways to express the theme of the book. Some of these can be as follows:
• A crowd consisting of human beings (villagers in action mode) and wild animals (tigers, lions, elephants, leopards, deer etc.). The idea to be conveyed is that people and animals are living too close for comfort.
• Another idea can be to show wild animals and people pulling a map of India (not the exact map but just a rough shape) in opposing directions. It will show that animals and people are in conflict with each other.
• Another idea can be human beings and wild animals trying to push each other off a cliff (with an abyss on both sides).
• We can also show people and wild animals (several Indian species) separated by a wildlife fence and both looking happy and relaxed.
These are only examples of ideas. The designer is free to express himself in any other way. He/she can use photographs, drawings or paintings or a combination of these to best express what the book is all about.
The book will be published as paperback as well as ebook. Therefore the product will consist of the front, back and spine as per international publishing standards.
Please note that the book size shall be 13.97 X 21.59 cm and cover has to conform to the KDP cover specifications as given in [login to view URL]
